About me

As a Counsellor and Hypnotherapist I offer different approaches to therapy for individuals and couples. Sometimes life can feel really difficult.  Whether it’s a temporary phase, distress in overcoming a difficult experience or unresolved problems from the past, we have all, at some point, experienced difficulty in understanding and making sense of our lives and relationships. This can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, angry or frustrated and questioning our ability, or our confidence, to cope.

I aim to offer a safe and confidential setting for you to explore emotions and difficulties that may be impacting on your life. There are many benefits to therapy and, over time, can help you make sense of feelings and difficulties leading to greater self awareness and help you explore ways to manage your life.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you manage day-to-day life by challenging the way feel, think and behave, focusing on solutions to problems, rather than the problems themselves.  Gaining information about how the brain works can help you understand why you feel the way you do and how I can help.  This knowledge and forward-looking focus can prove very empowering, and the hypnosis section of your session offers an opportunity to relax and engage your subconscious mind in making those solutions a reality. Over time, hypnosis can build more positive neural pathways in the brain, so the improvements you experience feel like natural developments rather than forced change. This can make you feel better about life and look more positively towards the future.

We are all different and I will adapt my working style to suit your own needs. I consider the relationship between the counsellor and the client to be essential to the therapeutic process and my principle concern is you - your emotional and psychological well being and how I might best support you through all that you are currently experiencing.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
