Mel Nevzat is a fully qualified “Person Centred” and “Humanistic” counsellor and registered MBACP member. Additionally Mel holds a Diploma in “Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling which allows her to work across a wide spectrum of modalities, including but not limited to CBT, Psychodynamic as well as Solution Focused therapies.
With 5 plus years of counselling experience within both the private and public sector, Mel has gained invaluable experience within substance misuse agencies, bereavement, domestic violence as well as IAPT/ NHS services, offering both short term and long term support. Currently Mel also offers her expertise to a nation-wide employment assistance program providing short term counselling solutions across a wide range of areas.
Mel takes an integrative approach to counselling enabling her to draw upon a range of counselling theories in order to tailor a “best fit” course of action, specific to each client. Mel places great importance in ensuring that her clients are made to feel comfortable in her presence and as such takes great pride in providing a safe, secure and non-judgmental environment - elements which are essential in order to nurture a positive therapeutic counsellor/ client alliance.
Whether you are in the midst of crisis, experiencing feelings of dissatisfaction or simply seeking to address a specific issue, Mel’s aim as a therapist is to help you to gain an insight and new perspective in which your feelings and thoughts can be understood, thereby allowing you to work towards finding solutions and a new perspective.
Mel’s background in bereavement and trauma enables her to be in tune with how, why and where emotions are held and to focus on establishing various ways of healing, allowing you to come to accept the past in order to pave the way for a more positive future. As well as trauma and bereavement Mel has extensive experience in Addictions, Abuse, Couples Issues, Domestic Violence, Family Issues, Personality Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Sexual Abuse, Stress, Suicidal Thoughts, Work Related Stress and Self Esteem Issues.
