About me

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy offers a unique approach to emotional disturbance based on the premise that you are not your thoughts.   We all have thoughts about one thing or another; often they are negative and sometimes self-destructive.   But they are just that - thoughts. They are not you! How you let them affect you, however, can be a different thing altogether. If you suffer from distressing thoughts (resulting in depression, anxiety, stress, anger, guilt etc), then we can tackle these and learn new ways to cope and overcome them.

I do cognitive behavioural counselling and hypnotherapy. This is based on the therapeutic model pioneered by Albert Ellis which is known as Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy or REBT.   REBT has its roots in psychodynamic psychotherapy and the early behavioural therapies.  REBT is based upon the principle that it is not events per se that disturb us but rather the beliefs that we hold about those events which often lead to disturbing thoughts and emotions.

Rational Emotive Therapy offers a uniquely challenging and constructive methodology for tackling fundamental (and existential) issues relating to depression, anxiety, anger, and other disturbing emotions. REBT sessions are highly interactive and can include various exercises and skills-development tools which can be taken away and applied in everyday life.

For your safety and wellbeing, all of this can be done this remotely over the phone, Skype, or FaceTime.

Sessions may also include Mindfulness (which has been shown to break the cycle of disturbing thoughts).

At all times, sessions are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards and are done in a non-judgemental environment where one can be free to express oneself and talk about issues in confidence.
