About me

I have been practicing for many years and continue to be inspired by my clients as I witness them change and move forward into happier and more fulfilling lives. If you are feeling bad or stuck in yourself, or are having relationship difficulties and want help getting to a new place of friendship and love please email or call me. I specialise in trauma therapy.

Come and see me for a free half hour consultation and start the ball rolling.

If you decided to come for a free consultation I would ask you to take a little time to decide whether you want to return for counselling so you would know it was 100% your decision.

If for any reason I could not see you I would tell you straightaway and offer you an alternative.

My practice is based on the coast, in Telscombe Cliffs. I mostly work face to face but I also offer phone or online counselling to those unable to attend in person.

About Me

I am passionate about my work and committed to my clients, whether I see them for a few sessions or over years.
I continually challenge myself to learn new developments in therapy and integrate the best into my practice.
Most recently I trained in Internal Family Systems therapy, a cutting edge therapy from the US which has taken the world of therapy by storm over there and is now growing over here. Before that I trained in Brainspotting, which is a powerful therapy technique developed by my trainer, David Grand in New York after working with survivors of 9/11. This technique is now one of many I have in my tool kit to help my clients with a huge variety of issues and struggles.

I am an integrative counsellor so I draw from a variety of models in service to my clients.

I have also developed and taught my own model which I now include only as part of a helping package.
In my experience, working from only one particular theory can lead to seeing everything through that prism and to not always being fully open to alternative, and sometimes more appropriate methods. That is why I am committed to working integratively.

I am an experienced trainer, facilitator and counsellor.

I supervise counsellors in private practise.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the CCPE in London for my certificate in counselling and therapy and then at Wealden College in Sussex, which is a BACP accredited organisation. I have a diploma in counselling. I began working as a counsellor 19 yrs ago and have worked in charitable and private sector organisations. I also have a diploma in supervision. I have trained in Brainspotting levels one and two. I have completed the three levels of Internal Family Systems Therapy training.

I am an accredited member of the BACP and abide by their code of ethics.

What to expect.

I offer an initial free consultation, either in person or over the phone.

If, after going away and thinking about it, you decide to see me then we will book a mutually convenient appointment and go from there.

Sessions are one hour long and take place once a week (couple sessions may be 2 weekly), preferably at a regular time.

I will always treat you, incl your feelings and beliefs, with respect. Whatever you share will remain confidential as per the conditions laid down in the BACP code of ethics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
