I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist which works with:
- Coping with loss and bereavement
- Stress and work-related problems
- Overeating and weight issues
- Shyness and interpersonal difficulties (including dating and first impressions)
- Family issues
- Life crisis, loss of meaning and direction
- Domestic violence or abuse
I also work in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
How can psychotherapy help you? What clients get from working with me is honest, meaningful insight, and the ability to get to the root of their problem. Facing a problem directly, in your own time, is the first step towards solving it. We are always better at seeing someone else’s problem better than our own, and that’s why having someone like me that has done this work before on your side will help. I am certainly not one of the many "let's all dance and be happy, life is beautiful" politically correct therapists practicing these days. But I will tell you the truth - even when it's not politically correct to do so.
Therapy is also support, a friendly and compassionate listening ear, and that’s certainly part of what I offer. No one can be a good therapist before having suffered themselves and knowing what suffering means. Therapy is a collaborative enterprise, and on my part you’ll get 100% support and dedication, honesty and dependability. The success of it depends on how much you’ll be able to do the same on your part. You will not be alone in this, and if there is an issue we will talk it through. Take heart, there is always hope.
My practice is fully insured.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed a one year Foundation in Counselling and Psychotherapy followed by a four year Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Center for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and as such abide to their code of ethics. My practice is fully insured.
I currently counsel members of the Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American communities in London and am thus very familiar with how difficult can it be to adapt to a radically different country and culture
In addition to my private practice, I worked as a counsellor/psychotherapist carrying out both short and long term work for drug and alcohol residential rehab centres such as TTP in Luton and CRI in Kingston.
I am also a group tutor for FoundationsUK, a charity that offers counselling and medical support through GP surgeries to severely obese people in order to help them change their eating habits and lifestyle.
