Dr Masrita Ishaq CPsychol
Are you or a loved one feeling tearful, lost, overwhelmed, panicky, angry or out of control? I may be able to help with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, anger and trauma.
I am a registered and qualified Counselling Psychologist offering psychotherapy in Guildford and Godalming for young people and adults. I offer weekday evenings and weekend appointments.
My training means that I have an understanding of mental health diagnosis and experience of working with issues that have been going on for some time. You or a family member may have been wondering about seeking therapy for some time now and isn’t sure if it’s the right step to take. Sometimes it’s easier speaking to someone who isn’t involved in your immediate surrounding or in the situation itself. They have less emotional ties and therefore more able to offer an objective view.
I do not judge what you bring to the therapeutic space, instead, the work is on developing an empathetic understanding of your thoughts, feelings and actions. The first appointment is used to make a full assessment of the situation. This is also a time for the both of us to consider if we’ll work effectively together and to discuss the therapeutic contract that establishes and maintains the safety of the therapy.
I work integratively drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness.
Clinical supervision is available for trainees.
