About me

I am a Systemic Psychotherapist. I gained a Master of Science degree in Systemic Therapy in 1998. I have over 40 years experience of working with families, couples, individuals, children, adolescents and organisations. I have worked in Social Service, Educational and Child and Adolescent Mental Health fields.

Please feel free to telephone me, or email f you have any enquiries or questions.

A systemic approach explores the networks of significant relationships of which each individual is a part, considering the beliefs that give meaning to people's actions and the communication patterns between people as they interact with each other and each others ideas.

A particular strength of a systemic approach is that all beliefs and ideas have a place to be acknowledged, which gives opportunities for all involved to make use of these, or choose not too. A systemic approach also allows me to give fully of all my training and experience. I am therefore able to incorporate a myriad of psychotherapeutic approaches, methods and techniques into my practice, including the psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, group analytic and solution focused.

I am also trained in the use of appreciative enquiry, and have particular experience and practical abilities within the context of attachment process and pattern, which is relevant to my practice of family therapy and in the involvement of children and adolescents in that practice.

I have specialist skills in regards to children and adolescents.

I have many years of experience in working with individuals and couples. A systemic approach is often experienced as of high value to individuals and couples, in that as much attention is given to communicative patterns within relationships as to the individuals involved. One could say that I am as interested in supporting the development of communicative patterns that enhance life and relationships as I am in helping people to create change.

I approach my work with an ability to both work briefly and in the longer term, together with a desire to jointly create benefits that will last.

I am cleared by the Disclosure and Barring Service to work with all vulnerable groups, including children, young people and the elderly.
