About me

I am a Consultant Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Accredited Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I have provided psychological services within the National Health Service and as an independent practitioner since 1999. I have accumulated a wide range of experience working with individuals of all ages, families and groups.

My clinical approach is informed by the best available scientific evidence concerning specific psychological presentations (e.g., complex trauma, PTSD, emotional dysregulation, cognitive decline, anxiety spectrum, depression, relational, work-related stress).

I see adults and younger adults from the age of 15 years old and onwards. I employ a number of psychological orientations in my work including Attachment informed theory, Cognitive and Behavioural interventions, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Compassionate approaches, and EMDR. I consider the therapeutic relationship to be a vital component of psychological therapy.

Seeking a brighter mind? Reach out today and let's discuss your needs. I offer a supportive and confidential space to explore your circumstances.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am experienced in using psychological therapies to help alleviate emotional distress across the lifespan. I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities including CBT, Compassion Focussed and Acceptance, Mindfulness, Systemic, EMDR, Psychodynamic, Schema, and Attachment. I employ these and other approaches integratively to suit your needs and experience, within the foundations of our therapeutic alliance.

Although, I have worked in-person with people for most of my career and I am happy in this approach, I now offer interventions online. I see the use of technology as an opportunity to connect with people in ways that have not been possible in the past. I feel that this mode of working offers greater choice, accessibility and creativity as well as efficiency in meeting your goals. Please, remember that it is important that you have access to suitable technology and a safe, confidential and comfortable environment from where to attend online meetings.

I am particularly interested in understanding internal as well as external factors that might have convened at the time that we meet playing a fundamental role in the way you feel. Some of these internal factors include cognition (e.g. memory, attention, planning and organisational skills) sleep, hormones, pain, nutrition, movement/exercise and your ability to self-soothe. External aspects include climate change, abuse, acrimonious relationships, work and social life amongst others.

As an Expert Witness, I am familiar with personal injury claims, neuropsychology and court proceedings where there are child protection concerns. I am a member of the Expert Witnesses Directory of the British Psychological Society.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.
