People attend counselling not only in times of crisis but for a variety of reasons, such as:
- stress, anxiety and depression
- low self-esteem
- family issues
- emotional, physical or sexual abuse
- Sports performance issues.
MJH Counselling is a private practice offering a predominantly humanistic; person centred counselling approach to adults. This type of therapy facilitates the personal growth and relationships of an individual by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity. You will be given the space to discuss your issues and the service provided will always be empathic, non-judgemental and compassionate.
Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes and typically you will attend a session on a weekly basis. We will work together to focus on and clearly understand the issues that are concerning you allowing you to look at and make choices and changes that are right for you as an individual.
Training, qualifications & experience
Training and Experience
I am in my early thirties and my life experiences and qualifications allow me to empathise and support you either in the short term working towards a specific goal, or in the longer term exploring issues that you have experienced for some time
I have extensive experience working with clients from varied backgrounds. Most recently I have worked with university students dealing with anger, bullying, lack of confidence and low self-esteem, and also both males and females involved in domestic abuse and violence.
I find this old Chinese proverb very powerful "If we do not change the direction we are going, we are likely to end up where we are headed." Why not call me to see if I can help you – the first telephone consultation is free. What have you got to lose?
I hold a BA (Hons) Degree with a 2:1 overall score within Counselling and a current Enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB check)
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). By being with the BACP, this ensures abidance of their Ethical Framework for Good Practice, compliance with their professional standards.
