Profile

Working from my practice in Horwich, Bolton: I am a qualified and registered Person Centred Counsellor and experienced integrative counsellor. I also offer Solution Focused Therapy which is a time limited, brief therapy. My training in these areas allows me to integrate different types of therapy, tailored to the needs of you as an individual.

I have worked extensively in the caring professions for over 16 years; as a nurse within NHS mental health and learning disabilities services and in the Private and Charitable Sectors. I am able to draw upon the wealth of experience I have gained working with persons in a variety of settings.  I am skilled in working with the complex and painful issues that underlie low self esteem, depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties.

All the above difficulties can lead to persons experiencing stress related symptoms which include changes in sleep patterns, fatigue, difficulties in concentration and feeling out of control.  My aim in working with you is to provide a therapeutic space and opportunity for exploring your thoughts, feelings and anxieties; in which you are able to gain new perspectives, challenge negative thinking and realise positive change. I believe that everyone is unique, with the ability and potential to learn, grow and change their life for the better. I will work with you on a one to one basis, at your own pace.

I also have specialist experience in working with persons who have Autism and Aspergers Syndrome and working with family members in being able to understand the condition and the challenges that this may bring.
