About me

Psychotherapy literally means to nurse the soul; deriving its name from the ancient Greeks and their understanding of human nature and the psyche. Psychotherapy occurs as soon as you (the client) and I (the therapist) meet in a private and confidential setting to explore any difficulties, distress you may be experiencing or dissatisfaction with life or loss of direction or purpose.

Everyone brings their unique way of being into every relationship and I feel that the counselling relationship must reflect this. By listening attentively and patiently I can begin to perceive the difficulties from your point of view, and can support you to see things more clearly, possibly from a slightly different angle. Psychotherapy is a way of facilitating choice or change, or reducing confusion.

The key ingredient of my work is to create a safe and respectful space where difficult feelings can be explored in order to promote personal growth and empowerment. I offer a creative space including outdoors, if you would like to work in this way. As sometimes words are not enough. some people like to work with images, drawings, movements, dreams, sounds, with the breath and in nature, sand tray, body awareness.

Counselling and Psychotherapy can be beneficial in situations such as stress, life transitions, crisis, bereavement, loss, relationship, family difficulties, child and adult abuse or trauma. I also offer a specialist service working particularly with transitions such as birth, rites of passage, menopause and end of life.
