About me

How can I help you?

Sometimes you want to be heard, truly heard. To have someone to talk to about whatever is on your mind, to be listened to without being judged or told what to do. If you are feeling unheard, if you are feeling anxious, upset or overwhelmed, I am here to listen and help you to explore your feelings, to better understand them and feel more in control. Whatever your struggle, we can explore the circumstances, both past and present, to help you to accept and let go of what has been weighing you down and allow you to move forward.

I offer a place where you can be truly heard and understood. A warm, safe and confidential space where you can come and explore whatever is troubling you. By exploring your thoughts and feelings, both past and present, I can help you to understand the individual that you are and the way you relate to other people. Understanding yourself can build your confidence, and allow you to feel more in control of your life, lessen your anxiety or cope with your grief. I believe that every individual has the power to make changes in their life, by working through their concerns and seeing things differently. Let me help you make those changes.

About me

To feel able to talk openly and honestly, it is important that you find the right counsellor for you.

So who am I? I have previously worked in the film and TV industry and in retail, which has introduced me to a wide variety of people, places and situations, building my experience and understanding of people and inspiring me to change my own direction; to help people to deal with their issues and be able to improve their own lives.

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, which means we will work together using a variety of counselling techniques, depending on your personal needs and issues. We are all unique individuals and we deal with our issues in our own way, taking as long as we need. There is no single right answer, I want to help you to find the right answer for you. I have been working as a qualified counsellor since 2013 and have experience working for the NHS, at a GP surgery, a women's charity and in private practice. I have worked with a variety of ages, cultures and issues, including depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship problems and abuse.

What can I expect?

You can contact me via email, text or phone and I will try to answer any questions you may have. We can arrange an initial appointment where we can meet and talk about whatever is troubling you and I will ask a few questions about your situation, family and background in order to gain some initial understanding. I can also answer any questions you may have about counselling and how I work. The counselling sessions are for you, we can talk about whatever you wish to discuss and you do not have to answer any question you do not wish to. We can arrange further sessions at the end of our first appointment if you would like us to work together, usually 6-12 for short-term counselling or open-ended for longer-term. but you do not have any obligation to book if you do not wish to.

Please contact me if you have any questions and we can arrange an initial counselling session. I look forward to meeting you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
