About me

Currently working remotely via video or audio I offer an Integrative form of Counselling/Psychotherapy based upon the Person-Centered, Gestalt and Solution Focused Brief Therapy approaches. The way that we work will be very much based upon your needs.

I work in and around Winchester, Hedge End, Eastleigh and Southampton and offer confidential face to face and telephone counselling. This can often be helpful when coping with severe anxiety, depression and relationship issues.

I offer both face to face and telephone counselling, intended to fit best with your situation and your availability.

I believe that you should find the best therapeutic fit for you and so offer a free initial assessment session of 30 minutes to aid you in your search for the right therapist. This chance to talk before you commit yourself is so important in making the right choice.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy as well as a member of the Hampshire Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Privacy Policy

Data Protection has long been an important part of the way that we live today, never more so than now. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into play May 2018 seeks to improve on the protections of the Data Protection Act of 1998.

Mindful of the fact that all data from texts and email onwards is subject to virus and human error I believe that we all have a responsibility to protect our information. My own privacy policy seeks not only to do this but to give us both absolute confidence that our own information will be kept private and safe. This is key to any therapeutic relationship I believe.

Video and audio calls

Webcam and audio only sessions are held on an agreed platform and work just as face to face sessions do. This means that we can work together with no impact from our geographical location, traffic and parking or restrictions due to public health concerns.

Digital Data

Please know that I do not store any information about you electronically beyond your contact number and email address. A list of current clients will be held by my Supervisor in the event of my unexpected incapacitation. Your name is not stored electronically by me, I use references in order to further protect your identity.

Text Messages/Voicemail

I am happy to use and receive text messages with a specific purpose. Text message is only used by me in order to make and confirm our appointments and will not contain any session material. I would urge you to follow this approach also and avoid any private material.

Email

This contact information is used by me only to make and confirm appointments. No material will be included in these and again I encourage you to do the same.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
