About me

I've chosen to specialise in anxiety and trauma as these conditions so often prevent people from leading happy fulfilled lives.  Yet there can be a choice.  For me the key question is never: what's wrong with you?  It's always: what happened to you?

Change may feel difficult, intimidating or even impossible, but I will accompany you on the journey, using my experience and training to give you the support and help you need.

HOW I WORK

I'm always focused on you as a unique person. I believe that if we can understand where problems and difficulties arise we can begin the process of change.  I feel it's very important to explore the experiences that got us to where we are: the circumstances and people that shaped us, the decisions we got to make and the ones we didn't.  I've seen how empowering this process can be for those I work with and how it enables them to lead happier, more fulfilled lives.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Counselling can offer a route to a more fulfilled and contented life.  Therapy can help you to:

  • Feel better and happier
  • Improve relationships
  • Gain confidence
  • Improve communication
  • Experience less anxiety and stress
  • Work through trauma
  • Manage depression
  • Navigate loss
  • Achieve a better work/life balance

I work differently with every client that I meet because you are in individual.  My training is in  integrative counselling which uses a range of psychological approaches which I tailor to each individual. I use ideas from neuroscience and biology to help you to understand the impact of experiences on your behaviour, feelings and relationships.  My model of working also includes person centred, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic techniques and ideas.

WHEN AND WHERE I AM AVAILABLE TO SEE YOU

I offer weekday sessions, mornings, afternoons and evenings. For more details please contact me.

I'm based in Ruislip, West London.  I have a beautiful garden therapy room, which facilitates a comfortable relaxed atmosphere, for counselling in a natural setting.

I will respond to all emails and messages within 24 hours.  I will reply to voice messages via text in order to retain confidentiality.

Areas where I have successfully supported clients to overcome problems, include:

  • anxiety, stress and panic
  • trauma, PTSD and complex PTSD

MY TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

My training is Integrative and I am able to offer CBT, Person Centred and Psychodynamic Counselling. I am also interested in the science of therapy and the neurological and biological aspects of mental health. I undertake ongoing professional development and training to maintain and improve my practice.

Since completing formal training I have focused much of my ongoing professional development in the areas of trauma and anxiety.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework to offer safe, effective client centred therapy to a professionally maintained standard.

I am also a member of the Black Asian and African Therapy Network.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
