About me

Are you experiencing depression, anxiety, feelings of emptiness or hopelessness? Do your relationships leave you feeling unfulfilled and lonely? Are you troubled by traumatic memories? Wondering where to turn?

Perhaps you have never felt like you fit anywhere, were abused, neglected or bullied in childhood. Perhaps a sudden trauma, relationship betrayal or bereavement has derailed you and made you question your whole life.

Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I understand the difficulties you may have in admitting that you can't work through challenges and issues on your own and the anxiety you may feel about talking about it to a stranger. My first priority is to provide you with a safe confidential place where you feel you can be yourself and speak without fear of being judged. We will always work at your pace. Taking that first courageous step to reach out and ask for help means I can help you to explore your issues, work through challenges, help you understand what changes you can make or how to manage a situation to feel better about yourself and your relationships, and work towards the future/life you want and hope for.

I am a professionally qualified Integrative Counsellor, My main therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred and Psychodynamic. I also incorporate Solution Based Therapy and mindfulness.  This gives me a choice of ways of helping you, which I can tailor to suit your individual needs.

I am skilled in helping people to improve their self-esteem, to have more satisfying relationships with themselves and others and to find meaning in their lives. Among the issues I work with are anxiety, anger, bereavement, work related issues, stress &, anxiety difficulties, panic, relationship issues including betrayal, feeling low, abuse, depression, domestic violence, self-esteem/confidence, trauma, loss, to name a few.

My background of working in a HR role for 25 years has given me the opportunity and experience of working with people from all walks of life and cultures, supporting them in the working environment emotionally as well as practically to reach their full potential.   For more information about my counselling experience please see below in the heading Training, Qualifications and Experience

For the last 4 years and continuing, I co-ordinate and supply a counselling service to an Occupational Health Service where employees are referred by their employers for time limited therapy.  I also work for Employee Assistant Services.  As well as those I have a private practice based in Waltham Cross, where I offer competitive rates.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
