Hello, my name is Mariam. I am a professionally qualified and accredited counsellor and member of the BACP. I have a naturally warm, welcoming and down to earth approach to the way I work.
As an integrative therapist who really believes that every person is unique, I believe that you can't rely on one method or school of thought. One size does not fit all ! I have therefore developed an effective toolbox of various skills and techniques that I am able to draw on to help you gain clarity and make sense of your situation, to clear the "noise" in your head, to identify and break free from unhealthy and unhelpful patterns, and to essentially support you to feel more empowered and in control of your life and your experiences.
You might be considering counselling for any number of reasons, and you certainly don't have to be at the edge of despair in order to receive it. Whatever the issue you are facing, we can work together to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings and move towards a more positive place.
We all suffer and experience times of darkness. Sometimes we have the mechanisms to cope, and other times having an objective and non-judgmental person to help deconstruct and make sense of whatever is going on, can be a helpful experience. I can help you to explore your challenges, and help you to reconnect with and strengthen your own internal resources, as well as teach you new techniques to support you.
In my own life I experienced some difficult experiences and was eventually forced to question my life purpose and re-evaluate the direction in which my life was heading. I was lucky to receive counselling which gave me the space to process my experiences as I began to piece together the jigsaw of my life. It is now my honour and privilege to be able to support others on their journey.
I have a personal interest in nutrition, health and wellness, as well as Eastern philosophies (especially around Buddhist teachings), and have a regular yoga and meditation practice, all of which influence and are sometimes integrated into my client work.
Please take a look at the website - www.mb-therapy.co.uk, where you will find more information about me, the counselling process and the service we provide.
