Maria Manuputty, BA(Hons), MBACP Registered, Psychodynamic Counsellor
Life can be overwhelming at times and you may feel that you need help and support with some things. You want someone to listen to you but find it difficult to find the right person. I am a caring and compassionate counsellor with years of experience working alongside adults with difficulties across the life spectrum. I am fluent in both Dutch and English.
I offer personal therapy for individuals with the aim of enabling you to live your life in a more fulfilling, creative and rewarding way.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective which is based on the idea that how you think and behave is not only linked to the present but also to your past.
Counselling gives you an opportunity to express feelings in an open way and in psychodynamic counselling you are encouraged to explore various aspects of your life, past and present.
During our sessions, I shall work with you to gain an understanding about the underlying challenges that bring you to therapy. Talking to someone about your experiences can help you to make sense of things which are difficult. I am able to work at your pace in order to initiate change.

My approach to counselling is based on your needs. I will work with you and encourage you to tell me your story in your own words, and allow you to express your genuine emotions freely. Some emotions or feelings might be difficult or challenging to express and I see my role as supporting you through this process.
I have worked successfully with clients experiencing a wide range of life situations including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work-related stress, bereavement, relationship issues to name a few.
Together we will explore how these challenges affect your life now, and there may also be some exploration of experiences from your past, if this were thought to be relevant.
Sessions last for 50 mins and occur weekly. Counselling lasts for as long as you need it. You may just need and want a few sessions to think about a specific issue or situation, or you may consider long term therapy to explore present and past experiences.
You are welcome to contact me for a chat about coming to me for counselling, or email if you prefer. I am able to offer appointments immediately if you would like to book.
