Maria Emmanuel MBACP Reg.
207 Lordship Lane
I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member with BACP. I have been practising counselling in Portsmouth and in London for a number of years now. As an experienced counsellor, I can help you unravel your feelings and emotions within a secure, warm and non-judgemental environment, where empathy, acceptance and honesty are not only the tools but also the means towards acceptance, growth and change.
There is a time in our lives when we feel alone, misunderstood, lost, or as if treading a path not strewn with roses. The reasons behind these feelings are unique for each one of us. Bereavement, redundancy or issues from the present or past may be lurking in the corner to take their toll. My role is not to judge you or act as a saviour. My role is to help you share, explore and heal difficult emotions, feelings and experiences.
I embrace the integrative approach, meaning that I draw on a range of therapeutic techniques that are best suited to each client individually, from listening and dialogue to interpretation and exercises. It is a firm belief of mine that the answer to every hardship lies within us, as we have the potential to evolve and change.
During our initial consultation we will discuss what you would like to get out of the sessions and will then meet once a week for 50 minutes.
I practise in a lovely room in partnership with Sally Madley and Mary- Anne Nickerson, just a 15 minute walk from East Dulwich train station. The room is located centrally on Lordship Lane and can also be accessed by buses 40, 176, 185 - Bus stop Melbourne Grove.
I can interact both in English and Greek, as I am bilingual.
