Training, qualifications & experience
I initially trained in Egan's Solution based framework and graduated from Stockport college in 2011.
Since then I have worked for PLACE2BE for two years learning everything I can about play therapy and counselling children.
I recently went on to Salford University to achieve a BSc (with hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Many styles of of therapy were covered during this course although Carl Roger's person centered counselling was the main style that was taught.
I currently volunteer for a charity that provides a counselling service for young people aged 10-25.
I would describe my style of counselling as integrated as I use different techniques that I have learned over over the past five years. I match these techniques to what I feel will suit the client.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Affairs and betrayals
- Anger management
- Asperger's syndrome
- Attachment disorder
- Bipolar disorder/Manic depression
- Carer support
- Child related issues
- Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME
- Domestic violence
- Emotional abuse
- Family issues
- Generalised anxiety disorder
- Learning difficulties
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Physical abuse

The first session is always free as it's just to see if I am able to help the client with their presenting issues and if the client is happy to proceed with me as their therapist. After that it is £30 per 50 minute session,£20 for students or those in receipt of benefits.
If you decide that you'd like to proceed with therapy then I'd be happy to see you every week preferably at the same time on the same day, however if this is not possible we can work around when is convenient for you.
I offer open ended sessions which means that there is no time limit on how long you can keep coming to therapy. As long as you feel you need therapy I'll be there to support you.
Payment will be taken after the 50 minute session.I currently accept cash only.
After volunteering for five year at various charities and completing my initial training with the NHS, one thing in particular struck me that I found rather worrying. This was the incredibly long waiting lists.Clients were having to wait months, even years to see a therapist!
It occured to me that a lot of people are faced with the dilema of either waiting patiently for a free place on the NHS or even with a chairty or paying for private therapy which is usually £40-£100.This inspired me to create Fresh Start Counselling and Psychotherapy as I wanted to create a service where clients can get affordable therapy when they need it.Not six months down the line!
