About me

The reasons to seek help vary from acute unhappiness to a vague sense of dissatisfaction. For some it is a willingness to understand themselves and others better, or to make sense of problematic relationships. Often clients arrive feeling lonely and isolated, unable to cope with trauma, grief and loss.

From an attachment theory perspective, our difficulties are mostly rooted in the way we were treated as children and those experiences need to be carefully explored. I offer a warm, safe and supportive environment in which to unpick those early attachments and childhood events, the effect of which form the blueprint of adult relationships.

The key element for a successful recovery is the relationship we develop over time. The work requires commitment and courage, even humour sometimes, but if you manage to engage in this unique process the results might be enjoyed for the rest of your life.

I believe a painful crisis can be turned into an opportunity for self discovery and growth. The aim is to increase enjoyment of life through better relations to the self and others, to learn strategies to cope with distress and to gain satisfaction from achievements.

I grew up in Spain but I have spent most of my adult life in the UK; as a result I am very interested in the cultural conflicts people bring to therapy, not only in the broader sense of their community and workplace but also within the realms of family life and close relationships.

I work with adults and adolescents in English, Spanish and Italian.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are arranged usually once a week at a regular time. I offer open ended contracts, short and long term. Please call or email me so we can find out if I can provide what you are looking for.

I am a registered member of BACP and abide by their Code of Practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
