Margaret Rita Brophy, Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, BA, MBACP, Adv.Dip.
Anahata Health Clinic
119-120 Edward Street
I am a highly effective and affordable Counsellor with 7 years experience. I feel it's helpful to be able to draw on a variety of approaches and find CBT, Gestalt, mindful meditation, visualisation, focussing and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can all be of benefit to individuals depending upon what problem is presented.
Having worked in a variety of settings including a Young People's Centre (13-24year olds), Age UK, CRUSE Bereavement services and a general counselling Clinic for several years, I decided to set up my own private practice.
My experience has been working with individuals who have suffered from trauma, including sexual abuse, anxiety and depression and addictions, phobias and relationship problems.
I also work with individuals who have been diagnosed with neurological conditions such as dyslexia, OCD, dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and autism and Asperger's .
How can counselling help?
Sometimes things happen in your life which can get in the way of living a fulfilling life and prevent you from reaching your true potential. Perhaps anxiety and fears are holding you back, or maybe you feel you are drinking too much and have issues around addictions; relationships can be challenging and perhaps that brings up a lot of painful emotions for you.
Your experiences are unique and this will be reflected in what you bring to counselling and what you find helps you.
It can often provide a catalyst for change and can allow you to see your life from a different perspective.
How many sessions are needed?
The time frame really depends upon the issue presented and the particular outcome desired. I can work with clients in a short term solution focussed way or on a long term basis - it's what best meets the needs of the individual.
