Many childhood wounds surface years later. I seek to help the adult make sense of early trauma - whether bereavement, abuse or poor parenting and attachment. I offer a safe, accepting space to do this. I encourage mindfulness, and body awareness.
Training, qualifications & experience
I now run my own private practice, with a particular concern for bereavement, trauma and Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Before training as a counsellor I combined family responsibility with teaching and broadcasting. I then worked voluntarily in primary care, a young people's counselling agency, a rape and sexual abuse helpline and a bereavement charity.
I am one of the few Senior Accredited Sensorimotor Psychotherapists in the UK. This is sophisticated but gentle treatment for trauma, including developmental trauma. I have a B.Sc.(Hons) in Integrative Psychotherapy, am accredited with U.K.C.P. and a Member of B.A.C.P. I am a PICT Practitioner (Penny Parks Inner Child Therapy). I also have a Certificate in Supervision of Counselling.
Other qualifications include Postgraduate Certificate in Education, Diplomas in Speech Training, and Pastoral Studies.
