I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist who works to provide a non-judgemental and empathic environment in which a person can grow and also move in life towards a greater understanding and acceptance of self and others. I trained as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist which embraces an eclectic and multifaceted approach to mental distress. I am an accredited member of UK Council of Psychotherapy (MUKCP) and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Reg).
Training, qualifications & experience
I worked in Ireland as a private practitioner gaining experience in working individually with adults who presented with a variety of issues: relational, life crises, depression, anxiety, bereavement and self-esteem problems but also with teenagers who experienced difficulties with their families, schools and social environments. I also acquired experience in organising experiential seminars on issues related to older adults facing retirement and on issues related to making life choices to young adults.
I trained as a Counsellor and Psychotherapy at the Dublin Counselling & Therapy Centre, Ireland. I moved to London where I worked in acute psychiatric settings in the NHS gaining experience in the public mental health sector. I dealt with people with a variety of mental health conditions including trauma, psychosis and personality disorders. Recently, I completed an MSc Psychology at Kingston University writing a dissertation on ‘Vicarious traumatisation in mental health nurses’. I am also a holder of the ‘European Certificate of Psychotherapy’.
Marco comes from an extensive nursing and managerial experience that gives him a comprehensive and in-depth insight into the world of health especially in in-patient settings.
