About us

We provide a high quality, confidential, service to adults in Herefordshire who feel that talking therapy may help address issues in their lives.  A range of counselling approaches are available to suit individual needs: contemporary evidence-based models such as CBT and EMDR; as well as those which research shows can be equally effective, but are more exploratory and focus on relationships.   An initial assessment appointment with a qualified therapist will establish whether we have the clinical resources to help you.  If not we do our best to help you find appropriate support. We are offering both face to face and remote appointments, with measures in place to ensure a Covid-safe in person environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

We are a BACP accredited service and adhere to their ethical framework. All our therapists have followed accredited training courses and many have years of experience as fully accredited counsellors. We have therapists trained in individual and group work, as well as couple counselling. In-house supervision is provided so that no counsellor is unsupported in their work.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

Other areas of counselling we deal with

The above issues can become evident as the relationship between Client and Counsellor develops.
In this context they may not be the original reason which bought someone to counselling, but can be addressed as appropriate within the context of the ongoing process.
Some areas, for example 'Anger Management' are only addressed in this way, not through specialist courses.

Fees

Additional information

We provide professional, affordable therapy. The fee for the initial assessment appointment of up to 90 minutes is £60. Fees for ongoing sessions are determined at assessment dependent upon a client's ability to pay. MCS is a charity and operates a concessionary fund to help subsidise those who are on low incomes or in receipt of benefits.
