About me

Hi, I am a Counsellor who likes to work with clients at their own individual pace and capacity, to help them understand their own personal needs, throughout their counselling journey.
I work with clients in an Integrative way, which means I offer a Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural approaches with my therapeutic work. Clients can work either short or long term depending what is needed.

I aim to offer individuals a safe, comfortable place to explore their situation to be able to express their own feelings without being judged by others. Although you may be offered challenge to help you with possible distorted thinking, and other learnt behaviours that you wish to change or accept.

I respect that you have your own values, opinions, and experiences that sometimes can be emotionally painful and exhausting.  I will listen and will try to understand you, by offering you a space where you gain a different perspective on your own personal situation, so you may feel in an improved place or enable you to make some possible life changes.

I believe, for some clients it is necessary for change to enable them to flourish; although changes are often painful and challenging.  It can be helpful to talk to a  counsellor who is able to remain neutral and supportive, to help you visualise and understand your own difficulties from another perspective. This will hopefully increase coping strategies to help you more effectively through various difficulties and loss. Eventually you will be able to accept new situations, and will be able to work towards your own resolve.

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE – I have increased the number of video counselling sessions. More people can now receive counselling at home. This will continue as lock-down restrictions are eased, so that you can continue therapy with me afterwards if you want to.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
