Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am a qualified CBT counsellor, accredited through the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and am experienced in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, phobias, relationship issues and stress, both with adults and young people.
Although a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist, I also incorporate other counselling strategies, depending on the needs of the client.
I have particular experience in working with survivors of childhood abuse and victims of domestic abuse which has given me a clear undertanding of the effects of early trauma such as anxiety, stress, depression, self harm, anger, phobias, OCD, relationship issues and low self esteem.
My work and training in adoption support has increased this knowledge in areas of attachment, developmental trauma and loss and how this impacts on adult behaviour and relationships.
I have also worked with many clients who, due to life circumstances, are experiencing an overload of stress in their lives, which can lead to depression and anxiety.
How Can Counselling Help?
At any time in your life events can take over, leaving you feeling anxious or depressed, or early negative experiences or trauma can replay in your mind causing distress. My belief is that you are the person best placed to make the right decisions about yourself, however there are times when we can lose sight of who we are and feel taken over by negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours that seem to work at odds with the life we want to lead. Through counselling I can help you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and explore options for change by providing a safe space where you will be heard and respected. I will not advise you but will offer alternative ways of thinking about a situation for you to consider.
Please feel free to phone me to discuss your particular situation and how counselling could work for you.
