Hi, I am an accredited counsellor and I am a Christian. I became a counsellor in order to help people through tough difficulties and to understand my own difficulties. I have experience helping people; suffering from depression, generalised anxiety, addictions, relationship issues also difficult life events. Also children struggling with emotional problems.
I am qualified and have been accredited by the ACC, the Association of Christian Counsellors. This means that I am a Christian and I can use my faith if my clients so wish, however I am also available to counsel people of any faith or no faith at all.
I have worked with a counselling agency which served people in the Caterham area often being referred by their doctor, due to anxiety, or depression or relationship problems. I have spent 2 years working with a homeless charity in Crawley and also 2 years counselling children in a school in New Addington for Place2Be. I now work in Bournemouth for a Christian Counselling Agency and for Marriage Care.
I am training to be an EFT (Emotional Focused Therapy) couple counsellor, which is proving successful in helping couples with their relationship problems, including communication, affairs and understanding each other.
The style of counselling I use is integrative; using methods drawn from several different counselling models depending on the problem arising and also on client preference. My counselling is grounded in the Person Centred Model, which allows the client to dictate the pace and the topics discussed, it also means I will offer you my empathy, honesty and high respect. I also use CBT, Gestalt and creative methods which help you to see the 'bigger picture' or to open up other perspectives. This will give you the opportunity to explore and process all that is bothering you, without judgement or embarrassment.
I have experience of many life issues including mental illness and bereavement and I work with Individuals, Couples and Children. My desire is to see people understand themselves and accept themselves, growing into a more 'whole' person.
My counselling room is in my home, it is private and comfortable, there is parking on the drive and there is a bus stop 3 minutes walk away.
You can email me or call and we can arrange a mutually convenient time, to meet. I offer daytime sessions and evening sessions, mostly midweek.
