Profile

I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor and psychotherapist (Level 7), having completed a Post Graduate Diploma at University of Wales, Newport. Integrative Counselling simply means that I am able to chose aspects from a range of  theoretical models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Existentialism and Gestalt, rather than being limited to one and integrate them into a single approach.  This allows me to be flexible and creative in my practice and tailor my work to the needs of each client using a diverse range of skills.

I am a professional member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework for good practice.  I also undertake continuous professional development to expand and maintain my skills and knowledge and attend regular Supervision sessions to help develop and focus my practice and ensure that I am working ethically with clients.

Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore the problems, distresses or any difficult situations that you are experiencing in a confidential, non-judgmental, safe and supportive environment.  As a relational therapist I am able to work with almost any issue and I pay great attention to the quality and dynamics of our working relationship as it evolves.  Collaboratively we can work together to find creative and positive ways forward by looking at problems from different perspectives to find meaning in your life.  Problems sometimes go on for a long time and we cannot see a way out of them or they can make us feel out of control, but change is possible.  By working together we can establish what you want to achieve.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have several years of experience providing counselling and psychotherapy to a diverse range of clients at a number of local charitable organisations. I have counselled clients from a wide range of ages, ethnicities and cultures, and these experiences have given me the tools to communicate freely with people and help them open up on the whole range of issues that affect their lives.  In particular I have experience of counselling clients through issues such as childhood trauma, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, self harm, relationship problems, self esteem, depression, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, eating disorders, sexual orientation, stress, suicide idealisation and health issues.
