Lyn Tonks BSc MA Registered MBACP
The Affinity Centre
29a Water Lane
Hi, I'm Lyn. I am a friendly and understanding, highly qualified counsellor working from dedicated rooms in Wilmslow town centre. If you are feeling worried about something in your life, emotional, physical, spiritual, social or relational, why not come along and have a chat. You can discover whether counselling helps you to find your way through whatever is concerning you at this time. When you come to see me, we will be able to talk together about what is troubling you, in a comfortable, quiet and confidential environment. We can concentrate on your concerns, so you feel heard, respected and supported.
I am an Integrative Counsellor, so I can make use of a wide range of types of counselling, depending on your needs. My practice is also informed by Existential ideas, which means I can help you come to terms with human issues we all face at some time such as life transition, sadness, depression, anxiety, loneliness, choice and responsibility. I can also use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help you discover what's important to you, which may in turn help you lead a more meaningful life.
By talking together hopefully you will start to make sense of your difficulties and find a way through them. Then you can start to experience life to the full, in a real and meaningful way.

On my return to work, having had a career break to bring up children, I retrained in Management skills and worked for 13 years in a busy engineering consultancy. During that time I often found myself listening to people's problems and concerns.
For over 20 years I have also worked in a pastoral capacity with human issues in people of a spiritual faith and none. During this time I have been available to people from all walks of life, and been able to listen patiently and empathically to their concerns.
In addition to my private practice, I work as a counsellor at Protem in Didsbury, a Christian counselling organisation in Manchester.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, aged 18 - 80 on issues such as anxiety, depression, anger management, bereavement, life transition and loss of direction. Clients sometimes come as G.P. referrals and others are self-referred.

I have always had a love for people and a care for their concerns. Throughout life we all have times when everything is not quite as we would like. Sometimes just the fact of telling someone else can help to clarify your thoughts and feelings, so you can move forward and begin to live your life with purpose and commitment. If you would like to work in a conversational collaborative way, I would love to hear from you.
You can contact me by text, phone or email, when I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your counselling, prior to booking an appointment.
If you would like to know a bit more about me and what I offer, please look at my website wilmslowcounselling.co.uk
I look forward to meeting you.
