About me

I am a Person Centred Counsellor with many years of experience. I will work with you to help you find the answers that you are looking for. It may be that you feel anxious, low or depressed, or that you have something particular that you want to talk about/deal with. You may feel sad or unhappy and just want to 'feel better'.  Whatever the problem, we can work together to help you. I will listen carefully and help you to explore your thoughts and feelings. This can help you to understand yourself better and find new ways of coping or relating to others. We can look at what you would like to change and how to go about it.

In these times of Covid19 many people are experiencing anxieties and stress. Even problems that seemed manageable before can now feel too much. It’s as though everything is sitting on a bed of Covid worries, so it’s not surprising that people are struggling. You are not alone if this is happening to you. Talking and finding new ways of coping or a new perspective can really help.

As a therapist, I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. When working Face to Face I offer a quiet and private space where you can feel free to offload, talk about your feelings or explore what’s troubling you. I also offer on-line appointments, either because of Covid restrictions or because that’s what suits you better. I will still be in my counselling room, offering you the same opportunity to speak privately to me.

If you are looking for a therapist as part of your course requirements I have a good understanding of your needs as I taught counselling for many years and enjoy working with students.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor, have an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, a Master of Arts in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Mindfulness. I have a certificate in On-Line Counselling and I am also a qualified Supervisor, Teacher and Communication Support Worker. I also belong to the Association for Person Centred Creative Arts.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
