Lydia Browne Registered Member MBACP, Counsellor and Supervisor
UPDATE 2017..... EVENING APPOINTMENTS NOW AVAILABLE!!
I have ten years experience as a counsellor in Northampton. I have worked for local counselling agencies offering general counselling and specialised counselling for survivors or rape and sexual abuse. I am now in private practice as a counsellor and supervisor..
I accept self-referrals, counselling students, EAP and GP referrals and can offer daytime or evening appointments, Monday to Wednesday 10.00 am until 8.00 pm. I offer time limited, short term or long term counselling, depending on your needs
I have worked successfully with a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship difficulties, work place stress, sexual abuse, to name but a few. I can work with life challenges that are happening now, or challenging events from your past that are causing you distress.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and undergo regular supervision and Continued Professional Development.
How I work
I offer a talking therapy, that is approachable and tailored to your specific needs. Our sessions will be interactive, and you will not be judged, evaluated or given advice. There will be a constant dialogue between us, that will be led by your needs.
During a session I will listen to you and encourage you to to talk about your issue, your feelings and how your life is currently being affected by this issue. I will also encourage you to talk about significant events or relationships from your past, where this is relevant. I will help you to make sense of confusing thoughts or feelings, and help you to see possible links between past and present situations.
The process of talking things through is in itself beneficial and rewarding, and helps to alleviate a lot of pain and distress.
I work in a discreet non-clinic setting from a comfortable, private counselling room. (see picture below).
How I can help you
I can offer you a discreet non-clinic setting, where you will not have to speak to receptionists or wait in a room full of people.
I can help you cope better and make positive adjustments during challenging situations in your life.
You will gain new perspectives about yourself, your options, your choices
Are you are experiencing personal and emotional difficulties and struggling to cope?
Have traumatic memories from your past that have resurfaced to cause you further distress?
Do you simply wish to talk to a someone for your own personal development?
The thought of talking to a compete stranger about your innermost feelings can seem scary. So well done for being brave enough to take the first step by looking at this page.
The next step would be for us to meet and discuss your needs.
So, please give me a call or email me, and we can arrange to meet. I would be happy to have a chat with you and answer any questions that you might have about coming to me for counselling.
