Lucy McDonald MBACP (Accredited)
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist based in Herne Hill offering once or twice weekly short-term or longer term work. Come and see me for a one-off exploratory session if you're not sure what's going on for you or what to do about it - we can discuss your needs and what would be best for you, with no pressure to commit to more appointments.
People seek counselling for lots of different reasons: perhaps you are feeling low or anxious, are suffering from depression, or are struggling with key relationships - with your partner, friends, work colleagues, family members or another important relationship in your life. Maybe you hate your job, feel you have made a lot of bad choices, or feel you are at a crossroads or stuck in a rut. There may be stuff from your past that is still bothering you and is causing unhealthy patterns of behaviour. You might have long-standing mental health issues that you have had help with before. Or you may not really know what the problem is, except that you are not feeling happy or fulfilled. Whatever your issues are, counselling can really help.
My practice is a few minutes' walk from Herne Hill station, or a short bus ride from Brixton tube.
Each meeting lasts 50 minutes. In our first session together, we can talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to get from it. It is also an opportunity to see how I work and to ask any questions. My practice operates on Monday and Thursday afternoons and all day Friday.
My experience is wide-ranging and includes Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Bipolar disorder, panic disorder, phobias, seasonal affective disorder (sad), postnatal depression and relationship issues, to name a few.
