Lucy Burn, Dip Couns
12 St Cuthbert Street
I am an integrative counsellor with experience working with various issues such as addictions and trauma. Being integrative means that I have a combined approach to psychotherapy and believe that no single approach can suit everyone in every situation. I am trained in Person Centred therapy, Psychodynamic and Existentialism.
I began my person centred training at Bedford College and then went on to study the psychodynamic and existential theory elsewhere in a private CPCAB accredited college. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I work with adults on a one to one basis from my counselling room in the centre of Bedford. The room is walking distance from the town centre and there are parking facilities nearby. The therapy room creates a warm and safe environment for you to feel comfortable.
I offer sessions on weekdays and some evenings please contact me to discuss a mutually suitable time.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training at Bedford College was over 2 years and covered counselling skills and theory from the Person Centred approach.
I then went to study at The Bedfordshire Centre for Therapeutic Studies for a further 2 years. This study was intensive and covered a vast field of knowledge including trauma work shops, mindfulness, psychodynamic theory, existentialism, bereavement work shop, use of the arts in the therapy room, suicidal ideation, some mental health, and other related topics.
I have experience working for different agencies who offer counselling support to local people. The agencies I have worked for have been for people with various issues that they have wanted to come and talk about and some have also specialised in addictions, trauma, bereavement.
Areas of counselling I deal with
I offer a 50 minute session for £35 per session. When we meet for the first time we can agree a mutually suitable day and time for our sessions. The commitment to the work that we do from myself as a therapist and you as a client is very important to the therapeutic relationship. If you need to cancel a session I would usually ask for 24 hours notice. Without this notice I would normally have to charge you for the session.
If you have any questions or would like to book a session please feel free to make contact and I will be happy to hear from you.
