About me

Thank you for visiting my profile page.

Undertaking counselling is a big step and one that takes strength and courage.

As a qualified therapeutic counsellor I am here to assist you on your counselling journey. I have a respectful and dignified approach in which you are given a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to start exploring your feelings and make a start towards positive change. By working together the aim is to encourage you to develop the skills to enable you to move forward.

I provide person centred counselling, psychodynamic counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy, these can be used individually or combined in an integrative approach. As we are all individuals it is important to find the best approach to suit you and your needs.

I know how important it is to look after our emotional well being no matter what our age. Stresses, strains and anxieties can hit at anytime of our life, we maybe dealing with current situations or something from our past which impacts on our ability to manage our current situation. Anticipation of future events can also impact on us at an emotional level. There are many reasons why counselling may be of benefit including low self-esteem, low self-confidence, bullying, family issues, anxiety, general anxiety disorder, panic attacks, PTSD, stress, bereavement, infant loss, anger and relationship issues to name but a few.

I have experience in working with both adults and children/young people to support their emotional health and well being, this has been gained in various roles within the education sector as well as in bereavement care.

It is so important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with as this can help enhance the therapeutic relationship. I look forward to accompanying you on your counselling journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
