My Experience

I am an experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist  with over 15 years experience of client work  gained from both private practice and the NHS.  My clients include adult individuals who wish to work on: depression, low mood, anxiety, stress, low self esteem, lack of confidence, bereavement, and other personal loss, trauma and relationship difficulties.  In addition, I also support those who wish to work on personal development, or create more fulfilment and happiness in their lives.

In addition to my Counselling and Psychotherapy private practice I  have worked  as counsellor specialist  for the maternity department of an NHS hospital trust, I have worked as a counsellor and clinical supervisor for a palliative care service based in Windsor, I  have also worked as a parent counsellor for the Guys and St Thomas Hospital Trust, a Hospice Counsellor and for a Counselling Agency.

I have a particular interest in  Attachment Theory which helps us understand ourselves, and our behaviours and experiences in relationships. I work to help my client gain self awareness, acceptance and to build self compassion.

Prior to my work in Counselling and Psychotherapy  worked in a various cancer and palliative care nursing roles including clinical nurse specialist roles.

Approach:

As an Integrative Counsellor Psychotherapist.  My theoretical approach is the Clarkson Relational Model which integrates three key schools of counselling psychotherapy theory: Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Transpersonal. I have additional post graduate training in CBT, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, EMDR and energy psychotherapy/EFT.

As an Accredited and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I work within their Ethical Framework for good practice. I am committed to professional development, and the delivery best practice of sound and effective counselling and psychotherapy that meet the needs of my clients.

How I can help:
There are many benefits from having the opportunity to talk safely and openly about yourself and what's on your mind or how you feel, and understanding processing and working through difficulties and traumas for some energy psychotherapy can be of specific benefit .

If you are considering counselling and have questions or feel unsure, please feel free to contact me to discuss how counselling could benefit you

Counselling can help people in many ways, and with various issues my experience  includes: Depression, low self esteem, anxiety, stress, anger, relationship problems,  issues relating to being a parent, issues relating to childhood, work problems, spirituality, personal loss and bereavement.

How I work
I believe we all have the potential to develop and become more true to ourselves. Counselling & psychotherapy sessions can help you to access your inner resources, develop new perspectives and insight on the challenges you are facing. Plus, can also provide scope for personal acceptance and change, and help to build on coping strategies and to gain a better sense of control in your life.

You can come for an initial session. This is an opportunity for you to find out if you would like to work with  me, and for me to consider if I can help you.  During this session you can get a feel for what counselling sessions will be like, and  we can discuss confidentiality and the commitment to work together.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
