Profile

I am a fully qualified counsellor/psychotherapist with over ten years counselling experience.  My background includes counselling in GP surgery, probation and prisons, and in private practice, with adults and young people.

Over the years I have worked with clients who have presented with a wide variety of personal issues, including stress, anxiety and/or panic attacks, anger, depression, LGBT issues, bereavement/loss, relationships, drugs/alcohol, addictions, sexuality, infertility, self harm, domestic violence, suicidal feelings, childhood issues, abuse, exams, mental health problems, workplace problems, redundancy, and low self esteem.

I have worked with many clients who wish to explore and understand their anger; I have a particular interest in this subject, and how anger can affect day to life, especially within families and relationships.

It may be that you feel that you have come to a crossroads in your life, or are feeling under pressure and need some support in order to help you see things more clearly and identify ways forward.  I offer a safe, supportive, confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without feeling judged.

The basis of my work is Person Centred, which means I offer empathy, honesty, and unconditional positive regard at all times.  I also use Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioural therapies which are more short term and are more suitable should you require a more short term “here and now” approach.   I am also able to work more deeply with clients who may wish to explore issues from the past, or to help you work through and resolve feelings that may stem from childhood and may be getting in the way of you moving forward in your life.

I have been working as a counsellor since 2000, working with the wide variety of issues as mentioned above.  My probation background includes working with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence and victims of violent crimes.  I am also experienced in working with young people who have become involved in the criminal justice system, and with young people who self harm.

I am also currently studying towards a post graduate certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

My fees are £35 per one hour session.

I can offer a reduced rate for students/counselling trainees.

Further Information

I am based five miles from Liverpool city centre, and just at the end of the M62 motorway.  I also work in Aigburth, L17.
