Louise Long BSc MBACP
Hi my name is Louise and I am a fully qualified counsellor working with both adults and young people. I specialise in Person Centred Counselling which aims to provide you with an empathic, non-judgmental space in which to share your concerns. Put simply you will be listened to with empathy so that you can deal with and overcome issues that are difficult or causing you or your family distress or unhappiness.
It may be that you want to discuss a current life event, or something that has been troubling you for a while, or that you are finding it hard to work out just what the problem is that is leaving you feeling stuck or confused. It could be that a stressful situation or traumatic event has left you feeling vulnerable and unable to cope. We will work together to help you find the solutions to the problem.
What counselling offers
Counselling is different to talking with your friends and family. They may have strong views and they may offer advice that might not be right for you at this time. My role as a counsellor is not to give advice or choose a direction for you but instead I will enable you to have a particular kind of conversation about the things that matter to you and the difficulties which you may be experiencing, I can help you to explore your issues and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. Being able to gain this type of insight allows greater self-awareness, understanding, enhances self esteem and confidence which promotes an improved quality of life. I will listen and be at your side and together we can consider ways for you to find your own solutions. Counselling whilst supportive and healing can also sometimes be a challenging experience that can bring about life changing decisions. I can help you to understand yourself and your own potential so that you can make decisions about the changes you want to make.
Although it can be difficult to ask for help I am here to listen to you and to provide you with a confidential, safe and non judgmental atmosphere from which to work.
