Louanne Lachman, BSc Psychology, MBACP (Accred), AMT (Accred)

The work I offer is safe and confidential. A place for you to come and talk about anything in your life that may be causing you distress or confusion. I believe that counselling can benefit anyone; it can really help to talk to someone who is objective, professional and has no other involvement or role in your life.
Often people come to counselling with no clear idea of what they want or how they feel. It is your space and it is common for people to come to counselling feeling confused, lost or unsure. My aim is to gently support you through the process and help you to better understand yourself and your struggles, so that you can move forward with your life. My aim is always to empower you so that you can be more at ease in your life, so that you can be in your life in a way that is yours.
I believe that counselling is a journey of self-learning or exploration; I am interested in helping you to understand your behaviour and thought processes. I work with you to uncover unconscious behaviours and feelings which may be preventing you from reaching your full potential.
I am a qualified BACP psychotherapist and counsellor. I am trained to use a wide variety of counselling techniques which allows me to adapt my approach to suit the needs of each individual client. The main theoretical approaches that I use in my work are; Body centred, Person-centred and Humanistic. My website provides more information about these different therapeutic approaches I use, www.energycounselling.co.uk.
While I specialise in trauma and long term illness, below is a list of some of the areas I have experience of working with. Yet if you cannot relate to any of these issues, please know that I am open to working with any problem that you may bring.
- Relational problems
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Long Term illness
- Manic episodes
- Body Dysmorphia
- Sexual abuse
- Low self-esteem
- Anger problems
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
As a therapist, I am focused on being of utmost assistance to my clients through finding the way to work with them that matches them well. Each person has their own way of working and if we are not a good match, I find another therapist for you.
I have had a very complex past which has allowed me to live in many different countries and be a part of many different cultures. I love to embrace the multitude of ways that we hold our past and become ourselves. The diversity of my history, as well as my professional training, informs my work. A variety in cultures, sexualities, genders and traumas is something I welcome in my work and in my life. Racism and other forms of intolerance are a group of issues that I have a passion for addressing.
I work in the Clifton and Redfield areas of Bristol, across the UK and internationally via email, web-video, and telephone. I offer an initial complimentary telephone or video consultation to answer your questions and discuss working together. Alternatively, you can meet me for our first session at a reduced rate (£30) in order to allow for the free meeting time.
Services that I offer:
- Individual counselling
- Individual training

Workshop feedback (I do not post personal counselling feedback):
“EFT training was an amazing experience, I knew very little about EFT and had no expectation of what I might experience or learn. I found Lou informative with extensive knowledge and experience in many aspects of EFT; the only negative I can recall is the time passed so quickly. I have since worked with clients utilising EFT with consistently effective results on many levels.” Jennifer Campbell, Counsellor
“Excellent workshop, didn’t know what to expect but came away feeling highly positive and energised about myself and my business vision.” Jamie McGhee, Web designer
“I felt in capable hands, held but also challenged. Lou has a killer smile. A powerful experience and a wonderful opportunity to share, not feel so isolated.” Linda Williamson, Psychotherapist
“Good to get the time and space to think more about what I want in relation to the practice. And to get everyone’s words relating to a heartfelt business up.” Freddy Weaver, Counsellor
“I’d like to see the heartfelt business vision on a bigger scale, in bright colours, so we can take away a great photo to print out and keep/put up as a vision.” Becky Wilkinson, Massage therapist
"Feel quite excited! Can really see how I could integrate into practice and my own personal life!"
"I really enjoyed the benefit of technique in Core Process as a whole. The personal experience of 'technique' was enlightening for my own benefit that undoubtably will benefit and enhance my practice."
"Good well balanced programme, facilitator willing to be flexible mirroring counselling process, whilst still holding and ensuring rounded programme."
"The trainer was approachable and facilitating. It was well structured and incorporated flexibility."
"Very well presented and I appreciated the flexibility. Very safe space and well held."
“Felt powerful having the EFT modelled on me, gave me a good idea of how this works and how it feels for clients.” Hayley Rivers, Counsellor
“A very useful training, both for personal and professional use with clients, delivered with clarity and love.” Liz Igoe, Psychotherapist
“A very good day, I enjoyed Lou’s style as a facilitator, very well held, felt very safe.” More feedback and information about workshops can be found here: http://www.energycounselling.co.uk/workshops.html.
