About me

Hi, I'm Lorraine, a Professional Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor.

Now and again our lives may become a little too much to cope with on our own. One client described this feeling as having a 'headfull of cotton wool' Not knowing which way to turn and who to speak with.                                                      During these times you may benefit from sharing your feelings with someone, like myself, who will listen and help you through the tough times. Without passing any judgement. I aim to help you through any areas you may be struggling with and by working together, we will hopefully find ways to enable changes for the better – for you.

Maybe you're feeling stressed or anxious,  or maybe you are unhappy at work... Often, we are listened to but not heard. I endeavour to do both.                          You will be welcomed into a warm, and comfortable room, which hopefully will help you to relax and share your thoughts and feelings with me, which all too often can be difficult to discuss with family and those closest to you.

The relationship between Counsellor and client is a very important one and by sharing your feelings with someone outside of the situation often feels more comfortable than with someone who is close to you.                                          Our sessions will focus on what you want and need, which will help to unravel some of that 'cotton wool' and help you to see a clearer way forward.

I am a warm sensitive person and welcome you to share your thoughts and feelings with me within a safe and confidential environment.  My website is readable (and hopefully reflects my character) which I would love you to visit.        I would welcome any enquiries and questions you may have.

I am currently working face to face with all safety precautions in place. I also work via telephone or zoom if preferred.                                                                            I look forward to meeting you and sharing your journey with you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Supervision

Supervision is a 'wonderful thing' sounds like a line from a song, but it really is a wonderful, worthwhile necessity for all counsellors.
