I am a qualified counsellor offering individual and couple counselling sessions in Colchester. Individual sessions are offered to adults and adolescents (12+). Couple sessions are offered to any two people who both want to work on their relationship; this could be partners, parent and child, or siblings.
I also offer single two hour sessions for individuals that feel having one longer therapeutic session would be of use to them without on going sessions.
Often people come to therapy for a specific reason, a life event or some area of difficulty that is troubling them. Or perhaps there is no specific event that you can name but a feeling of being lost or confused, experiencing anxiety or depressIon. Integral Therapy may be able to help. By offering a non-judgemental empathetic space for clients to explore thoughts and feelings, that can often feel overwhelming, clients can find the clarity, solutions, understanding or peace they are looking for.
As an Integral Therapist I work in an holistic way, meaning I look at the whole person (in respect of your thoughts and feelings; your physical health; your relationships; and social connections) in order to assess how best we might achieve your aims. And as an Integral Therapist I have studied many models of therapy (such as person-centred; Gestalt; psycho-dynamic; CBT) and can draw on this range of knowledge to use techniques and exercises that may help you best at that moment.
My assessment and overall approach is usually drawn from person-centred therapy, which means I hold a safe, empathetic space for you to talk and explore your feelings; gently offering questions and observations on what I hear you saying so that you can further investigate and understand yourself.
I generally offer open-ended counselling meaning it is not limited to a certain number of sessions but we can build in 'review' sessions, at intervals that you feel comfortable with, to ensure we are working through any difficulties. My aim is always to empower you to find and implement the understandings and changes (if any) you need at that time.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP and as such I follow their code of conduct and adhere to their ethical framework.
I attend regular supervision sessions with a senior practitioner to ensure that my work remains at a high standard.
