I practice an integrative relational approach to develop the therapeutic relationship and facilitate change. The relational approach is the idea that we are all defined by our relationships with others and our being is within the context of these relationships, whether they be with our family, friends, colleagues, neighbours or strangers. The therapeutic relationship is a vehicle for the person to create a new relationship with self and other.
I am a UKCP accredited psychotherapist, who trained at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute and Coventry University. I have worked in a variety of settings including a Women’s Centre treating clients who are dealing with domestic violence and sexual abuse. I also have experience working with young adults at a 6th Form College and Youth Centre.
My aim is to offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment for clients to explore their feelings. This could be periods in their lives when they are experiencing change, anxiety, stress or overwhelm and extra support needed. Other issues that may lead someone to therapy could be; eating disorders, OCD, addiction, bereavement or relationship problems. The therapy is a way of working through past trauma's or present difficulties in a way where you can move forward with your life, feeling more connected to yourself and others.
This is facilitated by weekly sessions on either a short or long term basis.
I work within the ethical frameworks of the BACP and UKCP and I am UKCP accredited.
