About me

Hi

My name is Lorna and I believe in the power of talking therapy to improve our mental health, reduce depression and anxiety and ultimately create change in our lives, so we feel well and are able to function in the world.

I am a Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, combining Cognitive Behavioural and Humanistic approaches.  What is central to my way of working is a relationship of mutual respect, warmth, constructive challenge, curiosity and shared exploration.

Therapy services offered are Individual Counselling, this is for people currently experiencing difficulties in their lives requiring short-term more focused therapy, for example…

  • Grief and loss of loved ones
  • Distress, depression or anxiety in response to recent life events or trauma
  • Low mood or stress
  • Work or study related issues
  • NHS, GP or Talking Therapies waiting times for face to face counselling are too long for you to wait

And Individual Psychotherapy, which is for more longstanding problems, for example…

  • Low self esteem and lack of confidence
  • Recurrent low mood
  • Unresolved issues from early life
  • Difficulties forming or sustaining satisfying relationships
  • Feelings of dissatisfaction with oneself
  • A struggle to make sense of one’s life sometimes leading to feelings such as confusion, emptiness or despair

The number of therapy sessions required will depend on what you would like the focus of the work to be, on average people attend between 6 and 20 sessions.

If you’re interested in starting therapy and would like a conversation before deciding or if you have questions about how therapy works, do contact me on the below to arrange a free telephone consultation or email exchange...
