About me

Are you feeling depressed, stressed or anxious?

Crises such as relationship difficulties, work related challenges or sudden losses can cause low mood and a dramatic increase in stress levels, making it much harder to function on a daily basis.

I provide
the time and space in which to explore issues asking for attention. Counselling can help untangle the threads that are holding you back, allowing you to move forward to a more accepting and positive place.

Good counselling can help get to the heart of the matter. It gives due weight to the impact of the current situation, historic influences, as well as intentions for the future.. The building of trust and safety can allow the expression of deeper thoughts feelings, which you may not feel free to share with those close to you.

A period of counselling can help restore inner calm and resilience, and enable you to make personal choices with greater self-assurance. You can tune in once again to your intuitive sense of what's right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling with the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust. This is an integrative approach which gives attention to all aspects of our well-being - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. I am a fully accredited, registered member of the BACP.

I have a breadth of experience in a range of approaches to counselling, including Humanistic, Psychodynamic  and Gestalt Therapies. I have a Diploma in Neuro-Linguistic programming from the U.K. Centre for NLP, the first organisation to bring NLP to this country, and I also studied NLP with International Teaching Seminars, directed by Ian McDermott. I have completed both the Psychotherapy One year Course and the Counselling One Year Course at Spectrum, as well as their short course on the psychology of sexuality.

I was also closely involved with the founders of The Parent Network, and completed their course on communication skills for parents. I've had 40 years of teaching experience, specialising for the last 20 years in special educational needs. I was an Advisory Teacher for Language and Literacy in Islington for 10 years, offering advice and support to accelerate the learning of the most vulnerable children. I empowered parents to communicate more effectively to support their children's confidence to learn.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
