Loraine Hartman Dip CBT, Dip (MBACP) Registered
About me - Hi, I'm Loraine and know that it can take a lot of courage to take that first step towards telling a stranger about yourself. I believe, when you make that first step, you have the right to feel safe and respected. Concessions are offered to students.
What I can help with - I work with individuals of all ages who are over 16 across a broad range of issues, be this generalised anxiety disorder, relationship issues, phobias, panic disorder, suffering distress through bereavement or other loss, problems with stress or anger management, struggling with depression, low self esteem or wonder why life keeps knocking you down. We will work together to explore what is happening and work together to gain new perspectives enabling you to make new choices
I am a qualified experienced counsellor and supervisor of other counsellors and offer a safe confidential space for you to explore whatever you wish to bring - my aim is for us to work together to help you understand yourself and find the strength to make the changes you want. We can focus on one issue across a few sessions, or explore a number of concerns over several sessions. I am flexible about the number of and frequency of sessions you feel you need.
I work in Parkstone, Poole and it is easily accessible by bus and car, with free parking access.
As well as face to face counselling I also offer sessions via Face Time or Skype.
I am available to see clients most days, be this before you start work or up to 9.00pm - whatever suits you best.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a full Member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (MBACP) and a member of the BACP Register (registration number 081652.)
I am fully insured.
I hold a Diploma in Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) but perhaps my most important qualification is that I believe I have a real empathy with people.
Together with having my own own counselling practice I have worked as a Counsellor at a Centre dealing with adults across a broad range of issues as well as a University Counsellor so am familiar with issues affecting all age groups.
I work with an organisation who supports those that have been affected by long term unemployment and redundancy.
I am a lecturer teaching others how to become counsellors at an Adult Education College.
I am a qualified Supervisor of other counsellors and hold the CPCAB Diploma in Supervision.

As your first session is all about getting to know me there would be no charge for our initial session.
