Liz Woods, MA, MBACP (registered), Integrative Psychotherapist
I’m Liz Woods, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, working from my private practice in Richmond upon Thames.
There are times in everyone’s life when we might feel angry, sad, worried or anxious and this is perfectly normal. However, if you are looking for support through a difficult time or want to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, then having the opportunity to talk openly and freely with a counsellor can help. Counselling and self-exploration can move you towards a more positive and enjoyable life, bringing you closer to living your life well and being the person you want to be.
How can I help?
I provide a safe and confidential space where you can talk - without fear of judgement - about the issues in your life that may be uncomfortable, confusing, painful or cause you anxiety. This can help you manage difficult feelings, find new ways of relating to yourself and others, support you through life crises or life changes. Working together, we can look at your experience and feelings, find different ways of coping, and see what options you might have for making changes or perhaps for adapting to the things you can’t change in life.
A bit more about how I work
Contact me by email or telephone if you would like to talk about counselling and how it might work for you. If you agree, we can arrange an initial session which will give us a chance to meet and find out if I am the right counsellor for you.
I adapt my counselling depending on what you want to work on and explore, using different types of therapy, so my working style suits and meets your unique needs.
I work from Parkshot Medical Practice in Richmond upon Thames which is conveniently located 5 minutes from Richmond station with easy access to National Rail, London Overground and underground trains as well as most local buses.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an MA in Integrative counselling and psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton.
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP). I adhere to the principles of practice outlined in the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (July 2016). I use an integrative, relational approach, drawing on theories and techniques from a range of psychotherapeutic models.
I have experience of working in the NHS and for a number of charities, counselling adults and young people with a range of issues and presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, self-confidence, self-esteem and relationship issues.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£60 per 50 minute session payable in full at each session by cash or cheque. I know it can be daunting to choose counselling, so I offer an initial session at £40, with no obligation to continue, so you can decide if we might work well together and in your best interests.
Therapy can take place over the short term or it can be open ended. I’m experienced in both and we can discuss what might be best for you during our first session. Sessions last 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week.
