About me

If you are finding it hard to work your way through a difficult experience, or struggle to understand painful or repeating experiences, then maybe counselling can help. It offers opportunity to gain awareness and make sense of things, increase confidence in your decision making, the freedom to choose afresh if need be as well as understand what sort of change might be possible

For almost 20 years I've been offering sensitive listening, tuning in without judgment, I'm interested in all your sides, accept all of you including those parts you are not proud of or that might cause you shame or pain or fear.

I work with younger & older clients, of diverse nationalities, people living within mainstream or minority identities. I work with people who want to live more in awareness, who express or long to express their creative energies, people who may have experienced a sense of loss in its many guises, relationship issues, unexpected or hard to adjust to changes in life. All of you is welcome.

Some of the many issues people bring include relationship issues, loss, change, endings of all kinds, stress and anxiety, bereavement, anger, low self-esteem,  confidence, trauma and depression.

Benefits that clients cite include increased confidence, being comfortable in their own skin, less concerned with what others think, an improved ease in relationships, better communication and better decision making.

Couples Counselling offers professional, emotional support to broach what feels difficult to explore as a couple. Issues couples bring are many and varied and include: dwindling intimacy; a desire to reconnect; losing a sense of being a couple in the stresses of family and work life; the complexities of second and blended families; betrayal; re-building trust; facing the possible end of a relationship.

Meditation & mindfulness: I have a steady personal practice and deep
appreciation of conditions that can help create a calmer, more spacious mind to emerge. Let me know if you'd like to make space for this.

Expressive ways of working:  There are infinite ways of being in the world
and if creativity is meaningful to you – sound, word, image, movement - how might we engage with it together? Letting your own well of creativity support your experiences in therapy or supervision are valued and welcome in our sessions. Again, please say if this speaks to you.

Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purpose (CWTP) workshops
The writing workshops are designed to invite us into more expansive spaces, where we can be curious about the parts of us that are present or calling. I encourage a receptivity to what we find and chance to honour that which we connect to.

Individual sessions available to support any process you'd like to give attention.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I offer Supervision & Consultancy to counsellors and other professionals.
I offer Reflective Practice sessions individually and in small groups for professionals.

Supervision & Consultancy
for Counsellors and those in the Helping Professions

My starting point is a deep respect for all supportive relationships
and the way you choose to express yourself within them.

I aim to open and hold a reflective and restorative space
to bring attention and depth to the relationship we form
and to recognize and enable the potency we share in coming together to emerge.

I completed post-grad training as a supervisor in 2008.
I have energy and commitment to a range of connections in the therapeutic world,
the fruits of which I will bring to our work.

My counselling experience has been gained within all sectors of education,
within mental health, end of life care, eating disorders and via EAPs.
The majority of my current work is in private practice.

I feel secure on a path of development personally and professionally.
Meditation, retreats, personal therapy and encounter groups all contribute.
