"The human body at peace with itself is more precious than the rarest gem."
Tsongkhapa, 14th century Tibetan Buddhist teacher
I see counselling as offering the possibility to address experiences of 'un-ease', from the mild to the most severe. I offer a safe and confidential space and relationship to explore issues that make you anxious, hold you back, drain or confuse you. I aim to work to understand the whole of you, to see what aspects of your life and experience may be contributing to your current situation. A few of the many issues people bring include relationship issues of all kinds, anxiety and depression, loss and grief, stress, anger as well as the impact that changes can bring, such as the loss of confidence.
Person centred counselling in particular, gives you the chance to be heard without judgment. This means I accept all of you, including those parts you're not proud of, or that might cause you shame or pain or fear. You are able to work at your own pace and set your own agenda. Some of the benefits people find include feeling more confident, easier decision-making, less concerned with what others think, willing to take risks, improved quality to relationships, clearer communication and generally being happier.
Couples Counselling offers professional, emotional support to approach and voice the difficult areas of life as a couple. Issues couples bring are many and varied and include: dwindling intimacy and a desire to reconnect; losing a sense of being a couple in the stresses of family and work life; the complexities of second and step families; betrayal; re-building trust; or facing the end of a relationship.
Anxiety & Mindfulness: I have a steady personal practice in mindfulness and a broad base of knowledge and experience in mindfulness approaches which are regularly welcomed by people wishing to address levels of anxiety and stress.
Expressive Materials: I offer a range of expressive materials. These can offer a safe or more spacious way of exploring difficult subjects such as abuse as well as offering a more intuitive, subtle or lighter way in to better understanding of self.
