About me

I work with individuals and couples and offer sessions face to face at my practice in Henley on Thames or by telephone or Zoom (video). I also provide supervision for other therapists.

Perhaps you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed?

Whilst we cannot change other people and we often cannot change difficult circumstances which we find ourselves in - we can choose to adapt our own responses with better self-awareness. I offer my clients a relationship where it is safe to explore their experiences in confidence and without judgement or agenda to help you to make the choices which feel right for you.

Please call me to explore how I might be able to support you to take the next step - without cost or obligation.  If you would like to meet, I can usually offer an Initial Consultation within two weeks.

When possible, I allow a little extra time for this session which is an opportunity for us to explore in confidence how we might work together. There is no commitment to meet again and I would encourage anyone to meet with several professionals to allow themselves to find the support which is right for them. If you decide that I am not the right person for you to work with, I may be able to signpost you to alternative professional support.

Because life happens. Because self-care isn't selfish.

I offer flexible agreements. Having explored together how I might best support you, we can meet for a planned number of sessions to focus on a particular aim, to work together throughout a particular time period or to begin open ended work.

Regular sessions last 50 minutes for individuals or 60 minutes for two people and are  usually scheduled at the same time and day each week.

As I have sole use of my practice room, I am able to offer some flexibility on those occasions when life gets in the way of our usual session time.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I have chosen not to register directly with any private health insurers at this time but am always happy to provide receipts for payment if you are able to claim directly or via a company scheme.  In my experience, many companies are willing to part or fully fund talking therapy so it is perhaps worth asking your employer what support may be available to you.
