About me

With many years of experience working in the NHS, voluntary sector and private practice, I offer both short and long term therapy for a wide range of emotional difficulties including:

  • A significant or unexpected life-change
  • Low self-esteem, or a feeling of being not good enough
  • Anxiety which can range from constant worry to panic attacks or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Depression or low mood, handling uncomfortable feelings of loss, heartache, anger
  • Managing relationships; trusting people, feeling like an equal partner rather than feeling taken advantage of and resentful.

I also have training in, and a specialist interest in working with people who have experienced trauma either in childhood or as an adult.  This includes growing up in challenging circumstances, being exposed to abuse, neglect, domestic violence or addiction, or perhaps going through a life changing event.

My aim is to offer you a warm, supportive, non-judgemental place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable, and to experience some of the following results:

  • A positive change in how you think & feel about yourself
  • Able to look to the future, & open to the possibility of new & different experiences
  • Self-discovery leading to greater self-understanding & insight, feeling more compassionate & accepting of who you are.
  • Feeling stronger and better equipped able to cope with life's challenges
  • Improved relationships with family and partners
  • Make peace with your past

If you would like to talk about counselling and how it might work for you, please contact me by telephone (07792 808952) or e-mail (Lisa@Teddingtontherapy.com). I welcome all enquiries and if I am not available, I will do my best to return your call within 24 hours.

Qualifications:

• MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Merit), Roehampton University
• Graduate Diploma Psychology (Distinction), University of West London
• Certificate in Trauma Therapy

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
