Whatever you bring to counselling, my aim is to work with and alongside you. I offer a warm, down to earth, non-judgmental attitude and a professional approach to my work with you.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues that life can bring which has included; anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, pregnancy loss, health problems, bereavement, loss, self harm, childhood issues and sexual abuse.
I am an integrative and relational counsellor, drawing from different theoretical perspectives to meet your needs. I offer a safe, confidential space in which you can express and explore your feelings, experience, or whatever it is that is on your mind.
Sometimes it’s clear to see what your current difficulties may be or you may be troubled by events or experiences from the past. The opportunity of talking with someone who is not involved in your life, where you feel heard and understood can help you address current or historic difficulties. This can bring about opportunities for you to think about any changes you would like to make and begin working towards these.
I will adapt my way of working to meet you, working in the here and now with current difficulties or more historic exploration depending on what your focus is. I offer short term and long term face to face sessions, whichever best suits your needs.
My theoretical orientation and personal belief is that relationships are fundamental both in how we develop and relate and how we think and feel in relation to others and also ourselves. Our working relationship is very important and so our first session will be a consultation where you can decide whether or not working with me would feel right for you.
Through additional post qualification training, I am also a British Psychoanalytical Council Accredited Practitioner of Brief Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT). DIT is a structured psychotherapy delivered weekly over 16 sessions with a focus on problems in relationships and interpersonal patterns. It aims to help you understand the connection between your current symptoms and relationships through identifying a core repetitive pattern of relating, which can be traced back to childhood. Feel welcome to contact me should you wish to discuss this approach further.
You can contact me by email or telephone to arrange an appointment. if I am unable to take your call, leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
